Goodwill find: Pioneer Elite DV37 for $10.. no remote... (sigh)

I do NOT need another DVD player (I already have a Technics DVD-A10 and a Denon DVD5910.) But... seeing it sitting there all lonely... I took it home. Problem is nearly all functions and setup (besides 'play') are remote only!
It plays, but I need more.
The remote is $60+ dollars from pioneer.
Will I fork out more cash for a player I do not need? And why does Goodwill seem to discard EVERY remote for EVERY electronics item they get??

Luckily one of our local thrifts plastic bags sundries: cables, remotes etc..

After 3 years without a remote (channel select functions) for our '90's Sony Trinitron CRT, I stumbled across the right remote ($3) having researched the compatable models. "Cracked" the case, cleaned it up INSIDE (gentle but thorough contact membrane sticky build up removal), and voila!

Matter of luck, but determination improved the odds.

Goodwill doesn't discard them. People give electronics to Goodwill because they lost or destroyed the remote control.
