Have some issues regarding recording off air and satellite material onto DVD media. Need some help in how to go about this sort of thing. What I would really like to do is record some of the saved material from my Dish DVR through my iMac G5 computer which has a super drive recorder built in. The problem is that the DVR for all intents and purposes has analog outputs that of course will not interconnect with my G5. I just recently purchased a copy of Toast 9 software. What I need to know is how to make a connection to my DVR and how to go about making a connection with Toast. Any ideas out there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS. I know some of the newer hardware being promoted by DISH and others now carries USB or is it UBS connections for hookup to digital components. I have considered going that route, but I am in the process of waiting until February to see where this thing is going to go before jumping into something new with a provider that will no doubt cost me more per month. You know, the first on your block . . . . .

Here's a way to do it (not the best, but it will work). Just record the dish material, via its analog outputs, to the analog inputs of a camcorder with a Firewire or USB output and then transfer the recording to your Mac.There are ways to do this which will yield a higher quality transfer, but the above will cost $0. There are interface devices (analog to USB or Firewire) which are easy to use in making such transfers. Pinnacle Systems, for example, has a few analog to USB devices.
I would also suggest that you use an external or secondary internal drive to store your content. Extra hard drives and additional internal hard drives are too inexpensive not to use them. You can easily pick up a 500GB external USB drive for <$80 these days.
