Is that trend reversing? The US movie studios will never drop it, no matter how stupid it is for older titles.
Like you, I'm probably less interested in the current releases than most buyers. I buy mainly classic, foreign, art house and TV series, very few blockbusters or current cinema. But I guess I'll have to invest in a region free player at some point, unless Oppo finally gets their BD player to market.

It seems to be, but this may just be a momentary spike.
There are a few molded players that can be switched A/B.
As for Oppo, their eventual player, if they build one, will probably be DVd region free, but I don't know if they'll be allowed to make the Blu-ray section region free.

EDIT: As a side note, one of the ones I was interested in is supposed to look like dog doo, so perhaps I lucked out.
I don't understand why they make region specific stand alone players now. When the HTPC guys like myself can play any region Blu Ray or standard DVD.
