are you sure you want to buy something like this from out of state to save less than 10% on sales tax. To be sure, you can also get a lower price than most local stores, but careful shopping may get you you a good local price. I live in Santa Cruz, which isn't noted for a large selection of competing discount stores, and thought about this for a long time when I bought my plasma set. I knew of several cases of people having problems with their plasma sets, and I decided I would rather pay a bit more for peace of mind. I found I could get a pretty low price at the local Circuit City by following closely the on-line pricing, but in the end did not want to buy it there for several reasons. I finally decided to go with Costco 0n-line for the following reasons: they had the set I wanted, the price was quite low even with the sales tax, it came with a two year parts and labor in-home warranty, for 90 days they would take it back and refund all my money no questions asked (Costco is great that way), and they delivered it to my house. So, maybe I could have saved a few hundred out of state, but I really wanted the peace of mind. As it turned out, it has worked beautifully so far (about one year).

Follow Ups:
I lived on 37th Av at East Cliff Dr and was out at the Hook last Friday, but I'm in the burbs now.
I can save almost $2000. on a mail order. I'm finding it hard not to roll the dice. Best Buy/Magnolia isn't willing to deal on the Pioneer Elite 151FD I'm interested in.

Yes, for that set you will have a hard time finding a good price anywhere around here. I decided to go with a Panasonic because I liked the picture and the price, and I felt that the technology was advancing at a high rate while prices were steadily dropping; you could get much more for less as time went buy. So I jumped in at $2300 and am extremely happy with the quality of the set. In a few years, if the upgrade fever hits me, I will be able to get a lot more for my money and meanwhile am enjoying an HD picture that is almost invariably only limited in quality by the source, not the set. But it's all a matter of deciding what course you want to take, a personal choice.
