Will Sony honor the "warranty" on the refurb? Further, how old is the refurb model-wise? It has been my experience that companies want to try to fix the unit, especially if it is a relatively new model - generation-wise. My attitude about this, seeing the age of the unit, is to tell Sony to either fix the unit ASAP, replace the unit if it does not appear to be fixable, or give you your money back! Those are the only alternatives. The repair process should be timely. This will be something you will have to determine for yourself in terms of how much time you are willing to spend waiting for the parts and the service man. Good Luck.
