Mark Levinson and Infinity, they need a high current amplifier in order to Handel the low impedance's of the older infinity designs ML gives them the expertise to design and build a high current amp section. HK used to be the only mass market manufacturer to state their current output and their 50 watters often output more current than some higher end separates even at 100 watts.
HK has suffered a bit in recent years, since Sidney Harman had placed the company on the sales block (he founded the company in 1954!). Service has been an issue often times and increasing so on the newer products which are subcontracted to a large degree (not surprising as even Sony does this!). Actual sound quality always has been excellent for a mass market type approach.
