In Reply to: RE: H-K AVR 254 (and Harman Kardon in general) - OK? posted by 4season on May 17, 2009 at 13:12:14
I brought a previous model as a factory refurbished model direct from HK on Ebay. One of the channels was not working properly and they sent me a brand new unit free of charge. It was great for home theater but now I am using the pre-amp section only feeding a 5 channel B&K and it sound phenomenal. Yes the Anthem that is sitting in the main theater room kills it but it costs about 20 times more *and* lacks a power amp section. I would have to say that for sound quality, HK is the best of the mass market types.
Follow Ups:
how acceptable many even fairly low cost AVRs are when used as a pre-pro. Thus having preamp outputs is a worthwhile AVR option to look for.
