PAINTING: " American Zenith 1958 "
Mates,
Me ol' mum is finally changing her television machine, a 1988 27" Krakatone "Curvoplop" KR567 CRT with steam-powered remote.
The replacement set will primarily be used for DVD and streaming from Netflix.
1. The TV should be a 40" LCD 1080 HD, budget around $650-750.
2. Also, a good package set 5.1 surround sound system, something about $500-600. Blu-Ray capable is a possibility.
3. A simple, modern stand- no doors required, around $150-200.
I know that these components will not be state of the art by any means, but I know that left to her own devices she will end up with another Krakatone,..
Any recommendations welcome. - Thanks!
Cheers,
Bambi B

Although I don't usually do this on this type of forum, the latest issue of Consumer Reports has a survey on HDTVs of various types, and IIRC also covers surround sound systems. For audiophiles and vidiophiles, probably feels like slumming, but your mum, probably reasonably reliable info.
I like my sony bravia. They make sony bravia dvd players that are hdmi. I dont own the player but I think they turn on & play when the tv dvd input is selected.
mch dvd-a mch sacd & blu-ray concerts rule.
