I wonder if anyone knows a quick fix for my problem. I seem to get a more lively flushed out picture on High DEF cable channels than watching Blue Rays with my Oppo. The colors seem less vivid even though the picture is clear. Is it just a simple setting like letting the Pioneer Kuro 60M do the 1080P or letting the Oppo do it. Thanks for any help.

Is your Kuro calibrated to the oppo? There are Blu-ray and DVD calibration discs that will help you get the best picture from the two. Until your setup is calibrated, you can only guess as to what the right settings should be.
Personal preference is another matter. Some people prefer a more vivid picture, while others prefer more saturation or contrast. My preference is "none of the above". I want the most accurate picture that my display and source can give me. What's on the disc is what I want to see (tied to the capabilities of the source/display, of course) -- no extra color, no extra brightness, no over sharpening, etc. In other words, I don't season the presentation. That's the cook's (director's) job.
However, I have run into a lot of people, almost all used to an LCD which has the potential to be so much brighter, who complain that the Kuros look "washed out". They have even more trouble with a calibrated display. Accuracy takes a while to get used to, but when you are, everything else looks so wrong.Set up as best you can according to the S&M disc. Try not to use any of the video adjustments in the Oppo, rather adjust the display. Broadcasts are all over the place, especially sports, so they are a poor basis. Use a separate display mode for "preference" setup, but try to stick to the "calibrated" mode for a month or two and your eyes should be re-programmed.
