I'll be running a short run (~10 feet) of cable inside the wall behind the HDTV to the floor so that I can plug in the DVR and BluRay. I was going to install 2 runs of HDMI cable but then read that it might be better to go with CAT6 and then use CAT6-to-HDMI converter plugs. The CAT6 would be easier to install.
Which provides better picture quality, or is there a difference?
Which one provides better future proofing, as best as we can foresee at this point? Thanks!

Personally, I'd just run the HDMI cables. Converter have to add a couple more connections and could never be better though it'd surely make it easier in terms of the size of hole you'd have to drill or if you had to use an existing conduit that's too small for HDMI connector to get through.

...Run both.
Or/also while you have access to the cavity why not run a flexible conduit to genuinely future-proof the set-up as far as cabling goes.
