I know you want to spend a little less but I have had such good luck with my Oppo I would suggest you try to spring for the extra bucks and buy the Oppo. The upconversion on my DV-980H looks great and kept me from buying a Blu-Ray for a couple of years before I final broke down and bought one for Avitar (WOW, what a picture!...even if the story sort of sucks). Oppo seems to have found the 'Magic Button' when it comes to great players at affordable pricing.

as luck would have it I picked up the DV-981HD at a good price. It arrived today and works great. It was a snap to change the setting to "region free" and the twins have momentarily stopped crying as they are transfixed by disney...twins happy...wife happy...yours truly happy
