I was using a HT-DM550 (yeah, that old!) that doesn't have delay settings for digital inputs. The parasouond pre & amp for the analog out. Both had some sync.
If that sync is the audio being out in front should any AV receiver work for me? Seems logical.
Budgetwise -
I had been looking at Onkyo, Yama, Denon, Pioneer, Sony... nothing upmarket. I see the sky is the limit but most manufacturers range $300 and up, and I figure the bottom of the range models would be fine for me. I don't need on-screen gui, I like the upscaling my screen provides so I don't need that. DNLA, already have that from my blu-ray player, as I'm mainly going to be a 3.1 setup I don't need to pay for 7.1 over the cost of a 5.1.
The one thing I'd appreacite is the ability to take in HDMI multichannel PCM or DSD for my SACDs.
WAF and low cost are always issues, but more than those I couldn't live with an edgy class-D outs. Been there done that.
To sum up, low cost (under $400) and easy on the ears.
Thaks for the help. The multichannel world is a minefield.
Follow Ups:
Denon AVR-1712
It has audio delay up to 300ms, HDMI sync mode and HDMI Standby pass-thru (allows you to use an HDMI device with the TV via the receiver without turning the receiver on). It fits your budget of $399, gives you plenty of control/convenience and offers numerous options should you want to get more into Home Theater. Don't worry that it's a 7.1 model, as you just tell it that you're only using 3.1 of those channels.
Thanks Joe - That 1712 seems like a great buy, in terms of capabilities and future proofing.
I read the manual and it seems flexible enough for any eventualities.
Though I think the recommended installation of 12" in every side is overkill!
Thanks!
