Just received and played the Rankin/Bass "The Hobbit" DVD from the 1970-something TV show. My daughter decreed it's "too dark" for my 3 year-old granddaughter; I think daughter was not much older when she first watched it.

But the voices of Hans Conreid, Richard Boone, John Huston and Otto Preminger...what a treat for an old fart like me...and Cyril Ritchard, Captain Hook from my childhood!

The Hobbit: low budget animation, some quirky plot condensation but overall, a real nostalgic treat.

I will believe corporations are a legal person when Texas executes one!
