Here are 3 reasons why your VHS tapes may have sold to these people:

#1 They do not have a device that will allow them to play a DVD or Blu-ray

#2 They want movies on VHS that are hard to find/not released in the DVD or Blu-ray format

#3 They want the picture to fill the screen on their 4:3 television

I'm sure there may be more reasons, but preferring the picture quality of VHS to DVD or Blu-ray is not one of them.
