That's $100 (plus shipping) that you can't put towards a real discrete HDMI surround A/V receiver or processor. You can pick up "Dolby Digital" A/V receivers at thrift stores for well under $100, which will be adequate for DVD (and other sources of lossy discrete surround). $250 will get you a new Pioneer A/V receiver which supports multichannel lossless over HDMI (Dolby TrueHD, DTS Master Audio), and will bring you into the Blu-ray era.
