Is that for all discs or just Blu-ray? Most Blu-ray discs don't let you return where you left off- a couple do, but they are in the minority. I was told its a software issue, not a hardware issue.

I think it's BOTH a software issue and a hardware issue. I have two BluRay players. One of them will **sometimes offer to let you resume playing BluRay discs where you left off, even after the machine has been shut off (but it still makes you go through the previews etc. to get to the menu. The other player will never go that, even on the same disc that would restart in the other machine where I left off.
Either machine will resume DVDs where I left off. I miss my Sony DVD player with its multi-disc resume option. It remembered the place I stopped watching in the last five discs I had loaded.
I know my Oppo 83 will not remember the place for most BDs, except for my Torchwood BDs, and maybe one or two others. No problem with DVDs. Odd that the studios can't be bothered to give Blu-ray a basic feature that's on pretty much all DVDs. Heaven forbid they should think of their customers.
