I really recommend you calibrate it. You can do that with a disc, or sometimes you can get the setting from the internet from a review of the unit somewhere. Google your model number and see what pops up. I will never buy anything but plasma, at least for the technologies available now. I still love mine, even if it is some 3-4 years old. I will get a bigger one eventually (ours is a 50" right now).
Follow Ups:
If you can control the room light for reflections. I have a couple. I love my 65" and my older 50" was great too.
It's sad that so many are mis-led into thinking that LCDs can compare. Or that Plasmas still use more power (power use varies with brightness).
