I've got them all, plasma, LCD and LED. IMO, the Panasonic Plasmas are the best bang for the buck and have the most natural picture. The downside is that the screens are more reflective. If you've got windows opposite the TV, it's annoying, not that LEDs aren't reflective, just not as bad.
Follow Ups:
...Panasonic plasma TV. The shiny screen is the only disadvantage, but the picture is lovely. Be sure to try difference cables as these sets will show you the differences. With regards to HDMI, we found the Monster M series (THX certified, FWIW) to be superior to Audioquest of the same price.
I too did not change til the CRT set started acting up.
