Sorry to read that. My 20 year old Sony Trinitron 19" is still going strong (on a surge suppressor).

You didn't say what happened to the Panasonic. What happened?

In lay terms, one of the end product failure modes is component "robustness". For example, you can buy transformers that can just barely handle the job, or you can buy transformers that can easily handle the job. Robustness. Know what I'm sayin'?
