With the third season of Walking Dead about to start on AMC and the Dish - AMC dispute not showing any signs of resolution, Dish is giving away free Roku XD boxes to disgruntled customers who threaten to switch to another provider to get AMC. They're also giving credits on the monthly bill for up to a year, and throwing in an HDMI cable too. Call Dish customer service and ask to speak to a customer retention specialist, explain that you're considering switching to the cable company in your area because you don't want to miss AMC's shows, tell him that you've read that Dish is giving Roku boxes to keep customers, and ask for a Roku and a credit. Be polite but sound serious about leaving. It appears that Walking Dead will be available on both Amazon Instant Video and Vudu, both accessible through the Roku.
