The real issue seemed to be an arcane, long - running lawsuit between Dish and AMC's former owner over a long defunct cable channel called Voom. The suit sought damages from Dish of a couple of billion dollars.

Its always about the money. AMC wanted more than Dish wanted to pay.

Dish always has the tricky business of trying to determine if the increased cost of a channel is more than they can add to the bill w/o losing subscribers. THe cable channel's objective is to charge as much as possible while still keeping the cable company buying the channel.

Conflicts happen.
