I'm a little confused. If I run everything into my receiver, and my receiver is only 480 out.... isn't that less than optimal, or am I missing something?
BTW, It looks like my Direct TV cable box has HDMI out,
The Direct TV Box info is: Model HR 22-100 Manu. Date 8/31/08
Follow Ups:
If you go to Denon's site and look up your receiver in the archives, it says that it will support 1080p resolution. The first batch (the first 3 months of production) only supports up to 1080i, but can be upgraded at the factory.
Now, I didn't check to see if it will upsample lower resolutions to higher ones, but that's not a problem as your display will convert the input resolution to its own native resolution.
Click the link below. Be sure to move the black dot to Search by text and enter the model number, AVR-3806, in the box. When selections come up, download the AVR-3806 HDMI Specifications Guide .
