Every so often, Walmart puts those on sale for $48 instead of the usual exorbitant $78. It has the particular virtues of being region-free capable for DVD and will convert PAL DVDs to NTSC, and the Blu-ray region can be changed at will. It'll play avi and mkv files from a DVD-R or USB device, or wma and mp3 audio files, but not FLAC. The hard power switch is on the back, which is awkward, and so is the USB port. Apart from that, the remote is decent, and it has both Toslink and coax outputs for S/PDIF, and even composite video if you want to watch Blu-rays on an ancient TV. You can find name brand Blu-ray players for the same sort of money, but they're unlikely to be region free and may not handle PAL DVDs, regardless of the region setting.
There was an earlier hardware revision of this model that ran hot and had a noisy fan, but that was a couple of years ago now. There's some discussion of this player at Redflagdeals.com if you want to know more.
Follow Ups:
I'm pretty sure it won't do DVD-A; I tried a home-made disc and it wouldn't play. Still, you probably own cables that cost more than this thing. And so far, it's been more reliable than my first Philips CD150 that cost something like $300 new in the '80s. I've never used the analog audio outputs, though.
