Is 3D TV necessarily better on 2D?

Does the set with 3D circuitry necessarily have a better 2D picture? Or id it that top of line machines are generally better?

The circuitry in a 3D display has to handle a bit more processing and the picture is more demanding on the screen's hardware technology. Because of this, you should see improved picture quality vs a display made to only handle 2D material (comparisons should be done from the same manufacturer).

That does not mean 3D software is better than 2D software. In my opinion, 3D software still has a long way to go before it will equal quality 2D software.
