If the TV is both fulfilled AND sold by Amazon and it is offered with free shipping, they cover shipping costs both ways.
We bought a huge Mitsubishi 82" set last autumn with free in-home delivery and setup. It arrived in perfect condition but the picture quality was a big disappointment. Amazon paid for return shipping. No hassles at all.
To play it safe, as I did, ask Amazon about this prior to ordering. They replied to me via email.
During the holidays, for the master bedroom, we ordered a 50" Panasonic plasma from Amazon, also with free shipping and setup. It, too, arrived in perfect condition. The picture on the plasma is stunning and we kept it.
The last time I checked, Dell and Crutchfield also offered very generous TV shipping and return policies.
