Just wondering how Oppo came to be. Seems an odd name to me.
If I had any cash for a Blu Ray player at $500 that would last, I would choose between Marantz and Oppo. How did Oppo come to be?
Follow Ups:
They started out making DVD players. They were known for their region free players and excellent customer service. I bought what is probably their first (US) model-mostly because it was region free. It was later known for being a killer bang/buck player. I still have it. When Blu-ray came lumbering along, Oppo decided to stop making DVD players. Fans had fits, since it was well known that the BDA would not allow region-free players. I waited to buy my 83 until there was a good solid *hardware* hack.
