Plasmas tend to be more expensive, use more energy, and can have issues in brightly lit rooms. The masses aren't really interested in quality, as long is its big and flat-most never take their TV out of flame mode.

Plasmas are usually the cheaper sets available, everything being equal. I think this is one of the problems. Salesmen push the LED sets, since they make more profit from them. When you get ignorant salespeople together with ignorant consumers....
