...yes, to some degree, but not always egregiously o. I have some very good sounding opera DVDs, even including "pirates" from sellers like Premiere Opera that are downloads burned to disc. My opera/classical DVDs overall range from good to very good. I prefer my operas/concerts on blu-ray for both sound and picture, but some performances can only be found on DVD. Considering how few new recordings of opera are being produced, the blu-rays and DVDs are a blessing. Plus, you get to see some terrific stage productions.
