My experience is mixed. Thus far, I never had a Sony TV die. But then, my Sony 75" 940 is only about 4 years old.
My Panasonic plasma is still kicking at about 20 years old, but doesn't get used much in a spare bedroom these days.
My Visio has been on my patio for 10 years and works just fine.
Two out of three Samsungs that I owed died from power supply failures and weren't that old.
My LG refrigerator that came with our current home wasn't great and died at about age 12.
TCL is too new on the market to judge as mine is only a couple years old.

Follow Ups:
I had an old Hitachi that was my first TV as a young guy, lasted well over 20 years. My 35" Sony lasted a long time as well. That's old tube tech however.
New stuff...
Our 50" Samsung plasma is old and still kicking. One very faint red line down the far left side, but still with us. Next we bought a 65" Haier brand TV a few years back. Had been told that they were very popular in China, good quality. Bad move. I think it lasted about 1 day after warranty, done. Which was sort of OK, as the minute we plopped it down we looked at each other... not big enough.
Our 75" LG is fine so far, hasn't been long.
