Well shot, well cast, well acted, and made with the Brit love of sending themselves up.

Cumberbatch is Patrick the only son of a hostile father (Weaving) and a ditzy, wealthy American mom (JJ Leigh). The first episode is near hilarious with Cumberbatch's 'Wolf of Wall Street' antics. The second epi starts to get serious and explains Patrick's behavior.

Only 5 epi's so it won't bog you down. You will want to watch it in one night.

Good stuff.

For once I have to agree with you.

Cumberbatch is amazingly amazing in the part. It reminds me a bit of "Flea Bag" in that at times it is very difficult to watch, but in the end definitely worth the squeeze.

A main character that with all his problems and flaws is never so bad that you stop rooting for him.

I watched the first episode with mixed feelings, but I expect to continue.

I read the books some years back. They're dark, harsh, and acerbicly witty; ultimately compelling. Along with his slow recovery from abuse and addiction, he neatly skewers the Brit upper crust. So...much entertainment value!
