Great effects but even greater characters.
Follow Ups:
Return Of The Living Dead is a strong candidate for best Zombie flick IMHO. Blends humor and horror seamlessly and with Clu Gulager in a starring role, how can you go wrong? The scenes with the punks is the only reason I don't give this an unabashed best ever vote. The followup is drivel, be forewarned

"E Burres Stigano?"
I thought the original Night of The..... was the best. That eeriness was hard to replicate. I loved that very first Zombie who looked so absentminded coming up as if he had forgotten what he wanted.

Come on.
Shaun makes it in the Top 3 or Top 5 for sure, along with Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead.
Return of .. is no better than a good Troma production.
I must check out these Korean ones though. I love the few Japanese horror and fantasy movies I've seen. Korean sounds similar but perhaps more sophisticated.

and quite well done, leaves me cold, doesn't make my top 5

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is worth a look. Quite a different take on the zombie genre and very easy on the eye ;-)

I told her it was a remake of Pride and Prejudice, pulled her in after the opening credits ran. She lasted til the first zombie. I'll catch it again when it's rerun on one of the movie channels. And yes, Lily James is insanely easy on the eyes

It should be a thing.
