He was just a pup as life begins at 80.
The indication was that he smoked for decades.
He will be missed by us weirdos.
Follow Ups:
Good enough to even forgive Dune.

"E Burres Stigano?"
Saw Eraserhead in one of those local theaters that used to exist...interesting but did not blow me away. A while later, saw Blue Velvet with poker buddies...it did blow me away and we quoted lines to each other for a long time. After that, Twin Peaks showed up on TV and there had never been network TV like that. Decades later it showed up again on Showtime, and it went well beyond the original into complete surrealism. That was his peak for me. But I saw most, not all, of his movies over the years. Just recently caught up with Straight Story and he did heartfelt sentimentalism his own way and I loved it. He was often on our LA public radio station, and he was always filled with positivity toward life and art the world. There will not be another like him.
Yes, a great has left the room-
I will miss him for all his wonderfulness!
Happy Listening
yes, will be sorely missed by this weirdo. Blue Velvet was a revelation up there with Fellini's 8 1/2; immersed in Twin Peaks for years, etc.
Funny, I was just watching Inland Empire last week. I felt that I understood it a bit better this time around, but, for that reason, I didn't like it quite as much as I had in the past.
Oh well - he was one of a kind for sure. RIP.
