This movie is beautiful, thoughtful, art. It's slow, but give it time. I'm betting there will be a bunch of Oscar nominations for this movie (which was filmed for the IMAX format, so you have horizonal bars on the sides of your screen), including best picture, best sound (yeah, it's not explosive like an MCU movie), cinematography, best actor (Joel Edgerton).
Follow Ups:
I started it, but it seems to move so slowly. Should I hang in there?
You said that it started slowly. It IS a slow, contemplative movie. If that's not to your taste, sorry...
I am so glad you commented. Maybe you can teach me how to be contemplative.
If you seriously want to learn how to be contemplative, practice mindfulness meditation for a few months. If you're just joking, have a nice day!
I was joking, as you were a bit negative in your comment. I contemplate quite well, but usually in the powder room.
BTW, I finished the movie last night. Great filming of the mountain west. My feeling about it being somewhat slow I feel the same about. Final verdict for me....just okay. Not a film I'd watch again.
However, you have my permission to watch it as often as you like.
You have a nice day as well.
I had no negative intention in my comment, sorry if it read that WAY.
I'm sure I'll watch it again; I only wish it had opened here at an IMAX theater, since the aspect ratio was chosen to fit.
Another "slow" movie that is equally beautiful, which I have watched often, is Malick's "Days of Heaven."
We'll watch it again.
