Best police film I've seen in quite awhile: Le Petit Lieutenant.

A rural cop decides to take the challenge of crime fighting in Paris and quickly runs into a fierce female lieutenant. Realistic scenes (which are beyond Hollywood, it seems), a great acting duo of the young cop and the older superior, and clever and believable dialogue make for a very good time.

I hate the 'spectacular' spin and mulitple camera shots Hollywood puts on everything, this was a pleasant diversion.
