But who am I to complain? Things got LOUD when you were supposed to be terrified. Nosferatu wasn't scary enough, but he sure was hard to understand. It was like trying to understand all those Scots during PMQs. Eggers had his "players" populating the screen. Not so bad. This was the second time I've seen Simon Burney play Renfield. Typecasting is kicking in. Nick Hoult played a Good German with an English accent. Bill Skarsgaard was completely incognito. The women folk were just plain hysterical. And Dafoe was a tad off his game, IMO. Great care was used to recreate an early 1800s village and film stock look. Unfortunately, the hype is more than the end result for me. I find it odd that Dracula has been reframed to Germany with all the Brits chewing up the scenery. If you like Eggers then you won't be disappointed. |

Watched the Apocalypse Redux. It's a giant turd in comparison to the edited original. |
