The documentary shows what it means to be human. We think that we know a little about something, and then we overextend our reach with that knowledge.
We apply our good beliefs of right and justness in dangerously unsettling ways. It was very discomforting to me how Dr. Leuchter discusses "decency" within the execution process. He also said that he defended the Holocaust revisionists because he believes in freedom of speech. (They were being prosecuted under Canadian censorship laws that wouldn't work in the U.S.) It's like, yes I belive in those principles too, but somthing's amiss in the outcome.
Just look at this Web site, as an example - think about how we discuss audio technology or the First Amendment, and how often we fall short in the way that Dr. Leuchter does without realizing it.
