and the character wasn't that deep or interesting. The daughter's in-laws to be, seemed to have more going for them in the way of developing an interest. It tried to be a happiness, but fell short. You need to develop some emotion from the main character be it love, hate, or something.I don't think people knew what to take from this film. My sister liked schmidt and found the in-laws to be low class. I thought the film showed schmidt to be a clueless putz and the in-laws were charming and sincere. Who knows, the lack of direction is a flaw.
