Add a couple more to the list: Marutai no Onna (1997) which deals with a witness to cult killings, and Daibyoo-nin, (1993) "The Terminal Patient" which is a sympathetic portrait of a dying man
Itami Juzo died allegedly by suicide, but there are many that say he was thrown off a building and was actually murdered
He showed the moral decay and crime of comtemporary Japan a little too well perhaps, and made enemies as a result, he was very brave to take on those themes(!)
You'll have a hard job finding Japanese films in UK format, there are a lot more in USA NHTSC and Amazon.com and Ebay are your best bet
I can't help from Japan as VHS or Laser Disc isn't dubbed or subtitled for local films
