tawdry, contrived and depressing and while Sean Penn may win an Oscar, he went over the top for me...Tim Robbins and Kevin Bacon are fine though, as are all the supporting cast. The atmosphere and pacing are excellent. It is a very professionally told story, but the story itself and its resolution seem quite arbitrary...I have no inclination to ever see it again, while I may well see Kill Bill again soon.
