Anybody else watch the new Battlestar Galactica on Sci Fi?

It was good, except I have a few beefs with it.
Starbuck a woman? What's the point?
Also---why show all the stuff we're familiar with from the last series, and act like it's from the past---while using the same characters from the past? Seems the right thing to do would be to create new characters, IMHO.
