Great films. Thanks goodness they weren't directed by Spielberg or George Lucas.I usually hate the films that are immensely popular (I detest the Matrix films and the current crop of Star Wars flix are pretty to look at but painfully dull, Chicago was mediocre, etc.) but I find the LOTR films exciting and entertaining.
But they aren't for those who expect instant gratification. They are slow paced because they have story and character development (so does Attack of the Clones - but it is so damned wooden that it seems to last for 14 hours). Okay, they aren't 100% Tolkein. What movie has ever been 100% true to its source material - Shakespeare (good) notwithstanding?
