This a high-drama story of photojournalists struggling to cover the violence of the civil conflict. Dunst is among the team of reporters who are zig-zagging the country trying to get to D.C. They encounter various unsettling scenes of Americans turned on Americans in the most vicious ways. The Jesse Plemmons segment is by far the most chilling that is actually frightening. When the SUV full of journalists reaches D.C. we finally see a combat situation.
Too bad this film is early in this year's cycle as I think it needs Academy considerations.
Again: This is not battlemaps, large battles, North against South Civil war. This is brutal reality captured by journalists.
