... it was called "The Starlost" and was about the voyage of a starship called the "Ark". It was set about 1000 years in the future when the ship is 500 years into its journey to carry survivors from the doomed earth to a new planet. By this time the original mission has been forgotten and the survivors have fragmented into many different cultures living in separate biospheres. Most don't even know they are on a space ship.I think it was actually Canadian, not British, and was made in the early 1970s. It started out quite well, but ran out of steam and was axed before the first series had been completed. Harlan Ellison was the main creative force in the beginning of the show, but bailed out.
I don't know if it is available on video - probably not. I only remember one run of it on TV.
