Dmitry - The 'Nagasaki' bomb was dropped two (? more than one - I believe it was two) days after the 'Hiroshima' bomb. i.e There was no surrender in those intervening days. Some people take this as evidence that dropping one in a remote area probably would not have meant anything to the Japanese leaders. Not that this justifies using them on non-combatants.
