The fact that Frannie collects poems and words is boring enough to slow the movie down. The fact that the director collects unrelated shots (kittens, wind chimes, running girl, skating girl, black bride) really kills it for me. For some reason Jane Campion was stuck on not making this movie a erotic thriller, eventhough the script was one of an erotic thriller. Well: she succeeded: not erotic and not thrilling.
