Re: Found time to read your exchange with Analog Scott

"It is unfortunate that some folks take to the keyboard before learning their subject."

You think becuase you watch a lot of commercially obscure movies and like them that yopu actually know something about movies? LOL. I'll take your experience seriously when I see some evidence that you can do more than just call movies kaka. anyone can like something. That doesn't mean they really understand much.

" Seems like Scott's major thesis has been "Victor hates American movies!". Mama, what a tired and stale bit of old kaka!"

Same old same old. You can scream kaka all day and still have nothing of substance to say

"He is right on one thing - I didn't watch much of that "movie". I would only under the threat of force to myself or my family."

Actually I'm right about your ridiculous dismisal of "that movie" without watching it.

" I think I stated before that if the LOTR was the last movie left on this planet, I would rather simply take a book or watch the sunset."

I have no problem with your preferences in movies even though I think they show a painfully narrow scope. My problem is your arogance about your opinions. Hell, if you actually offered some substantial critiques I might be able to swallow your arogance.

" But as I stated, I did see enough of it to know its quality - not much was needed, really. One hardly needs to extensively taste every bit of kaka to know what it is."

Indeed. I don't need to read every one of your posts on this forum to know they are kaka.

"I guess that is where the experience comes in,"

Fair enough, tell us about your experience in the film world. Maybe you are quite an expert on film and are simply so brilliant and selfaware that you feel you are above critiques of substance and you feel calling something kaka is good enough simply because you deem it so. Hey, I can live with that even if you really are that brilliant in the area of film.

" and if Scott feels we all must experience every production out there to know something, then I think I shall gladly let him do it for all of us... as I simply refuse to waste my time on stuff I find objectinable."

Kind of a strwaman argument since I never said anyone has to see every film out there. But even the local idiot reviewers actually saw the films they reviewed before they made asses of themselves reviewing them.

"Scott didn't like the quick dismissal..."

You got something right

"well, truth is by that time some of us were already tired of that old hat... of that boring subject called LOTR, and we surely could have lived without yet another reminder... this time with all that Oscar hoopla."

Yawn

"Sad truth is the LOTR hardly deserves anything other than a quick comment - and negative one is not exactly uncalled for. When one has opportunity to spend his time watching any of thousands of good films, stumbling on LOTR, and yet again... is a big annoyance, indeed."

As anoying as the movie geeks who think they know more than the rest dismissing anything that they think is to common for their superior taste? I think not.

"You were right about being able to tell the quality of work in a matter of a short time."

I'm sorry the quality of work was lost on you. Maybe if they did away with the production value and translated the movie to some eastern European language you might be able to enjoy it. Heaven forbid film makers should do so much to create another world when creating a fantasy genre movie. It's just soooo Hollywood.

" In that I certainly am not the quickest - I tend to give the work whole lot more time before changing channels than my wife does."

I suggest seeing the movies in the place they were meant to be seen.

" She has a far more precise vision, and a virtually infallable intuition - she can tell it in just a few seconds usually."

I am trying to control my gag reflexes at this point.

" Just a few notes of the sound track usually are enough, just one or two faces..."

But heck, you don't need to see any part of a movie at all to know it's kaka right? You just have to believe it came from "hollywood."

" I often complain about such quick dismissal, knowing full well she is usually right. Might be interesting to see Scott surf the channels side by side with Anya - man, she is the quickest draw in the West... East... heck, the whole world seems like it."

It might be interesting. Quick judgements are usually pretty worthless though. Not something I would be bragging about.

"Anyways, for people like Scott... we have been discussing movies here for long time. During that time we have covered quite a few - both good and bad from all possible places. Neither I, nor others, I belive, are going to repeat all our previous comments when a new gun comes in town."

Fair enough. But I did go back to the archives to see what was said about LOTRs. I couldn't find any substantial criticism. Like I said, I could handle your arogance if you had something of substance to say. I can't think of anything of less substance than the dismisal of something one hasn't even watched. You still state your opinion on LOTRs as if it were worthy of textbook publishing.

" If that gun starts shooting from the hip, missing a few bad guys and killing a few horses, that is going to be his problem."

Your dismisals are an anoyance but hardly a problem.

"As in everything else, reading and learning before shooting your gun... or your mouth is always a good advice."

I suggest you start by actually watching a movie before dismissing it as kaka.

"Ain't that funny how much emotion something as insignificant as a weak children's movie can sometimes generate?"

As funny as movie geeks that are indistinguishable for the comic book guy on the Simpsons tossing out pearls of wisdom on cinema? Such pearls as "kaka?" I think not.

"Ain't is also funny how unable Scott was to show any reason why he actually loved the film? Inspite of your several requests."

Are you sure you read what I wrote? Or do my posts get the same treatment that the movie got from you. Do you protest movies you haven't seen as well?

Like I said, if you can some how show me that you are actually a substantial thinker when it comes to cinema and not just some geek who likes to get on a soap box I'll be far more patient with your dismisals. Like I said, anyone can say anything is kaka.
