Prompted by that post about Hollywood going downhill. Why do we need remakes of the old films? I see where Spielberg and Cruise are into redoing War of the Worlds. Ok, that was not the greatest, but do we need another one?And even stuff from TV shows, Starsky and Hutch?
What is it about America that discourages anything new in screenplays? Could Hollywood's days be numbered? With the web, DVD production, independents etc., I think so.
