Movies from comedy to drama to your favorite Hollyweird Star.

Almost everything you said is true, Nico...

... and that's why this film is such a success. To me, the film could only be "... a huge disappointment." if I somehow failed to notice that it deliberately mimics comic book style. Maybe you don't like martial arts comic books? Me neither, but I can't help but respect Q.T.'s intent and so I'm rarely disappointed at Q.T.'s "stylish" cinema here. While I'm on the subject of caricature art, I'll mention Lucy Liu's face and specifically, her lips. This alone was worth the price of admission. The Asian snow queen with those voluptuous lips. It's OK to be a little bit sexist in a comic book (and so, on AA as well) and luckily Q.T. definitely has a knack for showcasing interesting stereotypes of the femme fatale. Predicably enough, "motherhood" will be a major subject of caricature. Look again at the pan shots of Lucy's face. The way Q.T. contrasted Lucy's obsidian eyes with the facial equivalent of her (maternal) pussy-flesh was pretty hot, in part because Q.T. genuinely seems to like confused, maternal women. All those girls were fantasticly scary/funny, to me. It's strange how a comic book can affect me, sometimes. At first I'll wince, and pass over the bombast of it all. But good bombast can come back to haunt me for years on end. Time will tell...
