I would suggest picking up a copy of "Video Essentials" or "Avia". These discs contain test patterns and sound for proper calibration of video and audio devices. If you do not want to get a test disc right away, be sure to turn down your contrast and brightness levels on your tv. My Hitachi is 48% brightness and 23% contrast. You might have to be careful with these levels as you've purchased a tv with possibly 100's of hours already on it.James
