Are artistic sensibilities determined by genetics?
I agree absolutely on Renoirs films, The last time I viewed "Rules" I was rather distracted, probably the reason I enjoyed "Grand Illusion" more. I would also add that I thoroughly enjoyed "La Bete Humane", although it's not at the stupendous level of the other three.

I would love to find time to sit down with the five-hour version of "F&A". Maybe a sick day is called for. Bergman and Renoir have been in rotation in my DVD player lately (Next up "The Seventh Seal"), but I'm thinking of a change. Fellini, maybe? Hitch? Decisions, Desicions.
